Sacramento Trips

Every year, the Arsalyn Program takes up to 150 students from the San Gabriel Valley on a trip to Sacramento.  While in Sacramento, students participate in many activities including: presentations by professors, assembly members, or lobbyists. Some years, the trip involves debates, simulated bill discussions as well as trips to museums, college campuses, and the Capitol.

History

In 2003, a group of about 20 high school students went on a trip to Sacramento.  The group of students was accompanied by Judy Chu.  Since then the trip has happened every year and grown substantially.  In 2015 over 150 high school students went on the trip to Sacramento and stayed at Sacramento State and had the opportunity to see the school, stay in the suites, and get a taste of college life.  The focal point of the trip was the visiting the State Capitol.  The students had the opportunity to see the capitol and visit the different rooms where California's decision's are made, the Governor's office, and the other state official's offices.  Lastly the final stop on the trip was UC Davis.  The students, along with the teacher's and chaperones, took a self-guided tour of the University campus!
